Mexico Boutique Hotels

If you strive to escape large resort destinations, to walk a never-ending beach each morning, and truly experience life on a small Caribbean island, then Isla Holbox, is the place for you. Don´t expect all-night discos or heavy-traffic downtown areas – they just don´t exist here. Holbox is about the subtle, quiet, simple pleasures of life and Xaloc resort is the epitome of this lifestyle.

Spanish architect Juan Felix Sanchez first set foot on this small island just above Cancun 8 years ago. Immediately enamored with the pristine beaches and stunning exotic wildlife, he began to visualize a casual retreat that would blend perfectly with this magical destination. Here, travelers would feel at home, slip off their shoes and completely unwind.

Painstakingly bringing local materials over by boat, the passionate owner slowly built his island getaway; a serene enclave where picturesque huts weave their way through lush tropical jungle. Eighteen comfortable beach-front, palapa-thatched bungalows face seaward on a spectacular virgin beach. In order to provide niches for both romance and family time, a section is reserved for adults only but design allows for all to enjoy the hotel´s facilities.

Sway in a hammock, slip into a refreshing beach-side pool, read or play in the upstairs entertainment room or relax in the comfortable outdoor lounge. A full-service restaurant specializes in deliciously fresh seafood.

Activities include swimming, snorkeling, fishing, boat excursions, bird-watching or exploring the small village of Holbox.

Xaloc is a delightfully relaxed base from which to truly enjoy this slice of paradise.

Consider This ...
Isla Holbox is a great destination unto itself; however, if you like to give your holiday different facets, you may want to stay a few nights on Isla Mujeres before heading out to Holbox (or on the way back) or visit Merida and Campeche, intriguing colonial cities that are highly interesting and offer beautiful, pampering hotels.

You´ll Especially Love
The beach! Super-clear water, shallow enough to walk for miles. White sand!

"...we had an absolute wonderful time at your hotel. You and all of your staff were efficient and kind to us. Always willing to help and make us feel at home. Thank you too for the great fruit basket and thoughtful card. We will most certainly return, only with many friends and the hope of getting all of your beautiful beachfront rooms!... thank you again for a lovely stay. I know the fears are keeping others away (but we did enjoy the quiet!). everywhere we went the hotels had the same story that tourism was down.

"...We LOVED it!! It was the perfect combination-in some ways secluded and quiet but lively enough that there were restaurants and some other tourists. We rented golf carts two of the days and wandered out to these sand bars/secluded white sand beaches away from the hotels. There were never more than 10 other people in site! We did a guided fishing trip one day too and got to see more of the island as well. The airport transfer worked well and I felt completely safe :) The drive was about 2 hrs and the boat ride about 30 min. The Xaloc Resort was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Having our own palapa was neat too. It was a convenient walk to town... The restaurants in the island were FANTASTIC! There are several italians that live on the island and one of the places (Cafe Los Pelicanos) had the most amazing fresh pasta dishes. I could go on an on about the food! We wish we had more than 5 nights so we could return to some of the places again!"

"We loved our stay at Xaloc on Isla Holbox. The resort is beautiful and was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. The waiters at the restaurant are also deserving of particular mention.. as they were always pleasant, punctual, and helped make the dining experience at Holbox wonderful. The food was also very good. We loved our villa... Keep up the good work, and thank you for such an enjoyable stay!

"...I would like to thank you and the staff at Xaloc Resort for the great hospitality provided during our stay...Your restaurant manager was especially helpful as was all of the staff. What especially impressed us is that someone met us at the Cancun Airport as promised, drove us to the launch and met us on Holbox, all as promised. The return to Cancun was also flawless and well organized. It is indeed a pleasure to deal with professional people and we highly recommend your services..."

We had an incredible honeymoon at Holbox, in the Xaloc Resort, with a warm welcome and excellent service, we have to say that the food is more then incredible. We truly enjoyed "Our stay at this place, besides the island is beautiful, to walk on the beach full of seashells and the sea blue turquoise, with the sounds of nature is an unforgettable experience.
