The chic Mexican hideaway hotel Verana, set in lush jungle overlooking Mexico´s Pacific coast just south of Puerto Vallarta, is a unique mountaintop retreat that will take your breath away. Verana, designed like a film set by movie industry veterans Heinz Legler and Veronique Lievre, appeals to adventurous, discerning travelers seeking an out-of-the-ordinary experience encompassing a connection with nature, complete privacy and total relaxation.

A 30-minute open-air boat ride along the Pacific coast, followed by a short hike up a jungle path while donkeys carry your luggage, brings you to Verana, this unique paradise. An oasis of modern amenities where folklore and high design, nature and sophistication coexist, creating the ultimate primitive-chic experience.

Stone pathways carved into the hillside link the infinity-edged, spring-water pool, outdoor bar and restaurant with the seven casitas. Constructed of local materials, the accommodations, all distinct from one another, feature many open-air spaces, though they are uniquely designed to achieve utmost privacy. Surrounded by fan palms, citrus trees and bougainvillea, each is artfully decorated with antiques and handcrafted wooden furniture and charming found objects. All have private bathrooms, some with outdoor showers, two mosquito-netted beds and a private terrace from which to enjoy unparalleled sea and mountain views. Here nature provides the sound bytes, since there are no electronics, telephones or other distractions.

The Mexican chef prepares dishes with the freshest local, and where possible organic, ingredients with Pacific Rim influences and European twists. Menus are complemented by a savvy wine and tequila menu.

Verana´s spa, which continues the indoor-outdoor theme, features romantic open-air soaking baths to enjoy by candlelight under the night sky, two palapas for lush body and face treatments and massage, one of which seems to float above the jungle and ocean, and a watsu massage pool surrounded by palm trees.

GUEST COMMENTS

...we had a wonderful experience and felt safe the entire time... I have already recommended Verana to some friends. Thank you for the excellent communication during our flight delays.

Verana, the most relaxing place I have ever been. We stayed in the Jungle suite and it was absolutely beautiful. the sounds were very tranquil and the candles they lit at bedtime every night were perfect and relaxing. This place is so beautiful and the views are unbelievable.

We got the wedding experience package. The ceremony that we had was in our respective house on the ledge over looking the mountainside at sunset. It was the most beautiful ceremony I have ever experienced. It is a truly magical place that I will always remember as the site for our ceremony.

What an amazing slice of paradise. Right from the get go: relaxation. AHHHH. Spent a week and we have booked again for next year. Food is phenomenal. Spa treatments excellent. Entire staff very friendly and knowledgeable.

PRESS COMMENTS

"Created by two former film set designers, this secluded, atmospheric setting expertly combines modern touches (glamorous infinity and freshwater swimming pools, chic design elements, international cuisine) with more rustic ones (outdoor showers, a ban on televisions and telephones)." – Sandra Ramani. Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta
Set on the shoreline of the second largest bay in the Americas with the green foothills of the majestic Sierra Madre at its back, this is the romantic city on the Mexican Riviera–the traditional Mexican village–the city of grand hotels and cobblestone streets. If ever there was a town full of beautiful contrasts, that town is Puerto Vallarta.
