Over 360 years ago Don Juan de Sepulveda first furrowed the fields that surround Hacienda Sepulveda, one of the most prosperous of the haciendas sprinkled throughout the Lagos de Moreno area. Strategic in history for its position on the "Camino Real" route, today it is at the crossroads of three of Mexico´s most noted tourism cities: Guadalajara, Guanajuato and Zacatecas. Anyone wanting to explore this region will find the most authentic of hospitality experiences at this rural mansion.
It has been the property of the Serrano family for three generations and has been a labor of love for Juan Alfonso Serrano, who has spent the last 10 years preparing Hacienda Sepulveda for its new role as a premium hotel.
Architectural additions to the original structure were harmoniously incorporated and seamlessly blend with original boveda ceilings and thick stone walls, today housing 11 suites, which are all decorated in colonial fashion and feature wood-burning stoves.
A dozen top-breed horses can be seen grazing from your spot pool-side through a glass wall that discreetly separates the original stables from the guest area. Horseback riding is one of the main attractions and the estate offers hours of trails and fabulous scenery, including its own lake.
Dining here is a rare opportunity to sample original Mexican recipes passed down over generations, thanks to the hacienda´s "cocinera," fondly known as Mariquita, who has been with the Serrano family for 30 years. The main dining room is located in what was once the granary, and there are many romantic corners throughout the property where your hosts will set a romantic table for two or more.
A newly opened spa has been designed in what was once the hay room. Its thick stone walls take on the warmth of fireplaces and a central Temascal (pre-Hispanic therapeutic steam room) is a focal point.
Hacienda Sepulveda is a destination unto itself that beautifully awakens a past era.
Consider This ... Visit Lagos de Moreno and Guadalajara, Guanajuato or San Miguel de Allende! The ideal destination that perfectly combines city and hacienda style.
You´ll Especially Love The authenticity of this hotel! Owned by the Serrano family for four generations, the cuisine is traditional, the rooms are cozy and the service is warm and friendly.
