La Purificadora - Puebla
Central - Sophisticated - Eclectic

Grupo Habita takes Puebla by storm, introducing its newest hotel venture, La Purificadora –Spanish for Ôthe purifier´– and named after the 19th century industrial building´s original role as a an ice factory where water was bottled and purified for the production of ice. This cutting edge hotel boldly stands in Mexico´s most European of cities–a UNESCO world heritage site– adjacent to the beautiful Iglesia de San Francisco, steps from the city´s much visited convention center and neighboring a beautiful sculpture garden and Puebla´s contemporary art gallery.

The water theme inspired renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta during the extensive renovation process and this can be admired through the 3rd floor pool and the lobby water mirror that surrounds the chef´s table. Additionally, on-site archeologists unearthed several original pieces from the building that were cleverly used within the overall visual design.

A challenge to Legorreta´s normal passion for color, La Purificadora in its entirety boasts only three hues: black, white and a touch of Ôbishop´ purple. Twenty-six spacious guest rooms were carved from the architect´s ability to understand a chosen environment and blend it with indigenous Mexican architectural traditions. Ingenious combinations of archeological stone from the original construction, aged wood recycled for the vaulted ceilings and onyx from the nearby town of Tecalli all blend with a modern-day interpretation of Talavera ceramic showcased through unique flooring.

Besides impressive architectural appointments La Purificadora showcases the city´s culinary traditions interpreted by noted chef , Enrique Olvera from Mexico City´s famous Pujol restaurant.

Puebla
Rich in history and colonial architecture, Puebla has become a haven for those interested in history, antiques, handicrafts and cuisine. Many of the cities finest hotels date back to the 19th century, many converted from what were once large mansions. Talavera, the colorful painted ceramic that was first introduced here by the Spanish, adorns many buildings.
