Casa de Mita - Puerto Vallarta
Simple Elegance - Secluded - Gourmet Cuisine

In retreat from a high-energy life building chic, design hotels and restaurants in North America, the affable Marc Lindskog moved life and work to a more intimate scale in Mexico, building his eight-room villa-style Casa de Mita (formerly known as Casa las Brisas) on a beautiful secluded beach just north of Puerto Vallarta.

Heading north from the Puerto Vallarta airport to the northern tip of Banderas Bay, a short detour at Punta de Mita lands you on the outside flank of the bay at Playa Careyeros. Few footprints on the long, sugary beach that fronts Casa de Mita attest to its seclusion and exclusivity.

A wooden door conceals the entry courtyard, and once across the threshold hospitality breaks forth in the eager greeting of two miniature Italian Greyhounds, whose collective energies ebb and surge with the activities of the inn and its guests.

Guest rooms have private balconies with wonderful ocean views and surround the pool, which features submerged sunning chairs and a small fountain. Your own balcony is likely to be the chosen spot for morning coffee while you site whales and dolphins. Patios and intimate indoor-outdoor seating areas on varying levels beckon for an afternoon read or an evening cocktail.

Typical of Vallarta-style architecture and design, Casa de Mita has white stucco walls, tile floors and patios, thatch and tile roofs and guayaba wood balcony detailing. Interiors are simple and elegant, with touches such as hand-cast crown moldings. Carved armoires, headboards and doors from Michoacan add a rustic elegance. Bathrooms are a fiesta in themselves with immense showers lined with hand-painted tiles. Colorful, whimsical paintings and fine ornaments show the owner´s artistic sensitivity.

Food at Casa de Mita is a passion and so well-executed is the menu that this is one resort where guests are happy the formula is inclusive of meals. It´s a pleasant event to have the menu cited by your hosts — perhaps the chef himself, as each meal is a daily surprise.

Activities center around the privileged natural setting, with the surrounding jungle and rivers a haven for hiking and bird-watching. Everyone marvels at the ritual of the sea turtle release that takes place on this very beach. Or perhaps a marine outing is to your taste, with the nearby Mariettas Islands a perfect destination for snorkeling, whale-watching and bird-watching. If doing nothing at all is what you choose, your hosts are expert at making that a pleasure.

Consider This ...

"... It was a sweet surprise from a sweeter husband to return us to Puerto Vallarta after 30 years, and great to visit this area away from the big town. The beach was clean and beautiful and felt virtually private... The decor was Mexican "Shabby Chic", lots of painted tile, stucco and carved wooden doors and furniture, thatched roofs with deep overhanging eaves, and cool and weird art. The resident dogs were adorable and well-behaved and indulged. The food and drink was delicious and ever available. It was nearly impossible to find with no signs whatsoever... That´s O.K. though, because we did arrive and appreciated the peace and privacy. In fact we appreciated it so much that we were content to stroll and snorkel, laugh and snore together, without ever leaving the Casa property for the 2 nights and 3 beautiful days..."

"We did indeed have a marvelous time at Casa de Mita! The room was just perfect and the hotel and staff was everything we could have dreamed of. They set up a romantic dinner in front of the fireplace for Isaac´s birthday and baked us a delicious cake. We loved every second and can´t wait to go back!"
— T. Brown, USA. March, 2008.

"It was memorable...can´t say enough about the staff. Just were there when you wanted them to be, such nice people...we really enjoyed them...also, it was exactly what we expected so that was great...we just wanted to read and relax and everyone there seemed to want to do the same thing... We have told a lot of people about Mexico Boutique Hotels... We also plan to visit some others..."

"...From the moment that we walked through the door at Casa De Mita, we were at home! It was Paradise! From the food, accomodations, and the wonderful people there to take care of us. We never felt like we were a guest, we were at home. It was wonderful knowing that we could stroll the beach, lounge at the pool, boogie board in the ocean without a care in the world. The staff was so awesome! They took care of us like we were a king and queen. They always were there to get us what we wanted or needed, but the best part is that they always had smiles on their faces. The accomodations at these resort are like no other. Every room is exquisit! Diiferent and unique. Rooms with balconies with an ocean view. We drank coffee on our balcony enjoying the sites and sounds of the ocean. The beds are so comfortable that I felt like I was in my own bed at home. A walk-in shower was so wonderful! This was such a romantic get away for my fiance and I that we are coming back next year for our honeymoon to this romantic, exquisite paradise! I am recommending this paradise to all!
Thank you for our wonderful time Casa de Mita!..."

"Casa de Mita´s staff seems to telepathically predict your needs, like when a sangria materializes before you know you want one" – En Route Magazine. December, 2007.

"Located just outside trendy PV, on the way to Punta Mita, beautiful Casa de Mita (formerly Casa las Brisas) sits on a pristine secluded beach... White stucco walls, hand-painted tiles, thatched roofs and carved-wood cabinets (the latter stuffed with paperback novels) bring Vallarta flavor to the decor. The creative cuisine is made from locally grown, organic products." – Sandra Ramani. Fodor´s.com October, 2007.

"Casa las Brisas is only a few minutes away from the sprawling Four Seasons Punta Mita, but it´s world´s away in terms of attitude and price. For boutique hotel lovers who appreciate meeting other guests and having a strong sense of place, this is an excellent choice near Puerto Vallarta."
–Hotelchatter.com - December, 2006.
